Demand Response Programs & Bundles

Situation

A West coast utility wanted to help customers understand energy usage and reduce consumption through a demand response rewards program that also offered a free digital thermostat. Customers who enroll in the program can control their household temperature remotely from their smart phone, computer or tablet. In addition, customers earn credits on their bill during peak load days by allowing the utility to automatically adjust their thermostat by up to four degrees to increase energy savings.

The utility had an aggressive annual goal for this program, and required a solution that could use data to target customers eligible for this offer, who must: be in a specific geographic territory, be a homeowner, have central air conditioning and have internet. They turned to longtime partner Allconnect to design a solution.

Solution

Allconnect proposed the creation of a ‘bundle’ on their platform to target the utility’s customers who are moving. Allconnect’s platform can dynamically present products based on eligibility criteria and geography, as well as leverage relationships and technical integrations with internet providers who offer services at that customer’s address.

Allconnect achieved the utility’s annual goal in just seven months, which exhausted the utility’s inventory and budget for smart thermostats.
